Contemporary childcare and children first aid

The workshop supports anyone who is currently working with children or who might envisage starting a career in childcare. Its contents will help participants provide and put in place a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children. The skills developed through the workshop cover what is needed to help children feel safe and secure.

Target Audience:

Childcare providers, kids club staff, kids entertainment staff
Members of the public (baby sitters, grandparents and other carers, mothers to be, first time parents, students, mothers in need of a refresher)

Participants completing this course should be able to:

  • Identify the roles and responsibilities of a caregiver
  • Provide age appropriate basic child care (diapering, bathing, feeding, holding, dressing, rest and sleep routines)
  • Promote positive behaviour
  • Demonstrate how to nurture child’s development
  • Recognise and handle emergencies and illnesses (including CPR)
  • Recognise and fix safety-related problems
